Find the Perfect Fall Lip Color for Your Skin
While there are still some sunny and hot days left, it is fall. It is time to buy a pumpkin spice latte (or maybe not) and change over your wardrobe. Get those long sleeves, lightweight hoodies and your booties out!
And if you have not already, update your make-up for the season. This fall is all about bold lips and statement eyes!
Dark lips just scream fall, and a matte finish on your lips is sophisticated and modern. If you have been following Raise Flowers, you probably already know this. OOO! And she pairs those dark matte lips with those vibrant jewel colored eye shadows. Gorgeous!
The secret to matte lip success is prepping the lips before applying the lipstick. While lip care is always important, using a matte finish allows imperfections, like dry skin, to become more visible.
Be sure to use a lip scrub to get rid of all that dead skin. Then before applying that matte finish, use a lip balm. Apply the rest of your makeup while that lip balm gets absorbed, pat off the excess and apply your matte colors.
To find that perfect color for your skin it is important that you not only consider your skin color but your undertone as well. Undertone speaks to the coolness or warmth of your skin.
To find your undertone all you have to do is:
Look at the veins in your wrists under natural light. If blue, then you have a cool undertone. Green veins indicate you have a warm undertone. Can’t tell or you have veins in both colors? Then you might have a neutral undertone.
Look at your jewelry preferences. Hold up some silver to your neck. Silver jewelry looks better on cool tones and gold on warm tones
Again in natural light hold a piece of white paper up to your neck. Skin that appears pinkish, reddish or bluish compared to the white paper has cool undertones. If your neck appears more yellow, honeyed or orange compared to the paper, then your undertone is warm.
Ok, so what do these undertones tell you.
Women with cool undertones look best in blues and purples and those with warm undertones look best in reds, browns and oranges.
Makeup companies have not always made products for women of color so it used to be very difficult to find the right match. However, with the rise in black-owned makeup companies like Eunré, this process is getting easier for WOC.
