Cleansing Pads: Why You Need Them and What to Look For

We have all been there- coming home from a long day, kicking off our shoes, pulling off our bra, leaving a trail of clothes right to the bedroom where we fall into bed makeup still on. The next morning waking up in a flood of dread because sleeping in makeup and a day’s filth and grime is the worst thing for your skin. It happens.

But it does not have to happen. Like usual someone somewhere, like Eunre, has thought of you and your long day and came up with a solution: cleansing pads.

Why Wash Your Face?

Our mothers have been telling us since we were little to wash our faces. While they were right, it is always good to know exactly why we do a thing.

Washing your face removes the dirt and grime of everyday living. What is in that dirt and grime? You’ll regret asking! Bacteria, pollutants, viruses, dirt, and old (dead) skin cells. Not removing this debris from your skin is, firstly, gross. Secondly, a build-up of the debris causes blocked pores. Blocked pores cause blackheads, whiteheads and acne. Your pores release protective oils; blocking them makes it impossible for oil secretion which leaves your face more vulnerable to the environment. It’s a vicious cycle.

Regular cleansing also allows the other products you use to work more effectively. That layer of dirt and grime act as a barrier for your serums and moisturizers.

Washing your face also hydrates your skin so it does not become dry, cracked and wrinkled. Daily cleansing and good moisturizing maintain the proper PH for your face which enables water retention.

Be Gentle

All this talk about dirt and grime, all that foundation and powder and waterproof makeup, might make you want to scrub it all away. DON’T. Be gentle.

Be sure to only buy gentle wipes. And do not scrub or press down hard. There is no need.

Your face is the first thing they see. What message are you sending?
